Sarah E MacPherson is a Professor of Cognitive Neuropsychology at the University of Edinburgh, holding a Personal Chair in the Department of Psychology. She is affiliated with the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences and Edinburgh Neuroscience. Her research focuses on frontal lobe functions in aging and neurodegenerative disorders, particularly examining memory, executive functions, and social cognition.

Her work integrates virtual reality (VR) for neuropsychological assessments, notably the Virtual Reality Everyday Assessment Lab (VR-EAL).
