Her educational credentials include:
- Ph.D. in Christian Theology and Ethics from Duke University, Durham, N.C.
- M.Div. from Duke Divinity School, Duke University

Dr. Sours' research focuses on bioethics, scriptural ethics, academic integrity, and courtesy, with particular emphasis on Wesleyan theological traditions. She is currently developing a book titled “O Give Me That Book!: Scripture in the Wesleyan Tradition” under contract with Cascade Books, examining scriptural interpretation within Methodist contexts and its implications for contemporary ethical dilemmas involving suffering and social structures.
Her scholarly output demonstrates consistent engagement with intersections of theology, ethics, and cultural phenomena. Publications analyze disability representation in religious hymnody, the role of manners in societal transformation, and foundational ethical concepts through Wesleyan lenses, revealing a cohesive thread connecting historical religious thought to modern bioethical and social justice concerns.
As Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sours oversees all academic operations from Flowers Hall, Room 107, though specific details regarding graduate student mentorship or externally funded research grants were not documented in available materials.
