Professor Sarah Atkinson is a leading academic in Screen Media at King’s College London’s Department of Culture, Media & Creative Industries (CMCI), serving as Head of CMCI from 2017–2020. She holds a PhD in Interactive Cinema (2009) and has held senior roles at multiple UK universities. Her research focuses on digital media’s impact on film/audiences, immersive technologies (XR/VR/AR), AI in media, and live cinema economies. She co-edits *Convergence: The International Journal of Research into New Media Technologies* and has secured major grants from AHRC, InnovateUK, and others.

Research Interests: Sarah explores screen industries transformation through digital technologies, immersive media (XR/VR/AR), AI applications, live cinema innovation, and transmedia storytelling. Her work combines theoretical analysis with practice-based methodologies, creating interactive installations like *Crossed Lines* and *The Anatomy of a Film*.
Grants & Collaborations: Secured £multi-funding from AHRC, EPSRC, InnovateUK, and others for projects on live cinema economies, AI in games, and diversity in immersive tech. Co-led the *Live Cinema Network* and *Women in VR* initiatives, addressing sectoral equity challenges.
Labs & Projects: Active in King’s Digital Futures Institute and co-leads the *GLOW* exhibition series exploring technological innovation and women’s contributions. Her current work includes the AHRC-funded *GLoW3* project addressing equity in immersive media.
