Sara Morrison is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Western Ontario. She specializes in early modern European history, particularly focusing on England’s royal forests, environmental management, and queenship. Her research integrates legal, environmental, and political dimensions of resource stewardship in pre-modern contexts. She teaches courses on Tudor and Stuart England, women’s history, and queenship, including studies of Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria.
Dr. Morrison holds a PhD from the University of Western Ontario. She has held prestigious fellowships including SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowships and the Scouloudi Historical Award. Her work appears in journals like Journal of Markets and Morality and Transactions of the Thoroton Society, with a focus on Sherwood Forest’s ecological and cultural significance. She was recognized with the Dean’s Honor Roll for Teaching at Brescia University College for over a decade.
Her research explores themes such as deer conservation, naval resource utilization, and the intersection of monarchy and environment. She frequently presents at international conferences on environmental history, maritime history, and historical geography. Current projects include a book manuscript on the Stuart Royal Forests’ environmental history.
