Sara Malik is an Assistant Professor in the School of Accounting at the David Eccles School of Business, University of Utah, joining the faculty in 2021 after completing her Ph.D. at Stanford University. Her research examines accounting's real-world impacts beyond traditional investor contexts, focusing on labor economics and stakeholder theory.
Her educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Business Administration (Accounting), Stanford University Graduate School of Business, 2021
- B.A. in Economics and Geography, University of California, Berkeley, 2010
Professor Malik's research centers on how financial disclosures affect non-investor stakeholders including job seekers, employees, consumers, and local communities. She investigates wage differentials, turnover risk, and job search behavior using worker-level data, bridging accounting information systems with labor market outcomes through empirical analysis of real effects.
Prior to her doctoral studies, she spent five years at Cornerstone Research, an economic consulting firm, gaining practical experience in applied economics.
