Dr Sara Javanparast serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the Research Centre for Palliative Care, Death and Dying within Flinders University's College of Nursing and Health Sciences and Caring Futures Institute. With over 14 years of research experience spanning primary health care, equity, and community engagement, she leads multiple projects focused on improving access to palliative services for vulnerable populations.
Her educational background includes:
- PhD in Public Health (Flinders University, 2008)
- Graduate Diploma in Human Nutrition (Flinders University, 2005)
- MD in Medicine (Tehran University of Medical Sciences, 1995)
Research interests center on palliative and end-of-life care equity, with emphasis on community-based models addressing social determinants. Her work integrates qualitative methodologies to evaluate health services and develop community engagement frameworks, particularly for underserved groups including culturally diverse communities and aged care residents.
Recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on palliative care implementation in residential settings, medication safety in aged care, and death literacy measurement. Her research trajectory shows increasing specialization in systemic barriers to equitable end-of-life care access.
