Dr. Lenore de la Perrelle is a Research Fellow at Flinders University specializing in aged care, dementia support, and end-of-life care. She works with ELDAC (End of Life Directions for Aged Care) and the Research Centre for Palliative Care Death and Dying, focusing on improving services for older people, those living with dementia, and their carers.
Her educational background includes a BA in Social Work from University of SA (1980), M(Pol Admin) (1997), and a PhD from Flinders University (2021). Previously, she served as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in ARIIA focusing on older people's mental health and end-of-life care in aged care.
Dr. de la Perrelle's research emphasizes co-design methodologies to identify priorities for older people and health professionals, implementing evidence-based practice in care services. Her current work focuses on improving communication between staff and family carers and addressing the diverse needs of older people and aged care staff. She develops innovative programs piloting meaningful activities in arts, exercise, and social engagement for aged care residents.

Dr. de la Perrelle collaborates extensively with aged care services, researchers from other universities, and directly with older people and those with dementia to ensure consumer perspectives shape research. Her work includes developing protocols, ethics applications, staff training, data collection methods, analysis, and manuscript preparation. She has conducted evaluation studies on project resources and their impact on aged care practices.
She is actively involved with the Institute for Mental Health and Wellbeing, where she coordinated an implementation and evaluation pilot program to improve screening and access to mental health support for older people receiving home care in Victoria.
