Sara Callahan is an Associate Professor/Associate Senior Lecturer at Malmö University's School of Arts and Communication (K3), part of the Faculty of Culture and Society. Her research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century art and visual culture, particularly the role of photographic motion studies and archival practices in contemporary artistic discourse. She is funded by the Swedish Research Council's International Postdoc Grant and was an Affiliate Fellow at the ICI Berlin in 2023. Currently based in Malmö, she teaches at K3 and contributes to the university's humanities research group.
Her work bridges art history, cultural studies, and critical theory, examining topics like fragmentation as a cultural technique, the 'archival turn,' and the intersection of media representation and truth claims in true-crime documentaries. Awards include the Swedish Research Council's grant for her postdoctoral research.
