Sara Bega

Sara Bega is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture and serves as the Town Architect in Las Catalinas, a car-free hilltown in Costa Rica. Her work focuses on creating enduring built environments that celebrate cultural traditions through architectural and urban design.

• Education: Bachelor of Architecture with a Minor in Art History from the University of Notre Dame (2014).
• Research Interests: Sustainable architecture, vernacular design, car-free urbanism, and historic preservation.
• Projects: Led design efforts for over 40 projects and urban plans in Las Catalinas, which has been recognized with awards like the CNU Charter Award (2022) and Urban Guild Design Excellence Awards (2020).
• Notable Achievements: Completed a South Bend Union Station thesis under John Stamper, earned design awards, and contributed to Guastavino tile vault installation projects.
