Sara Bauknecht

Sara Bauknecht is an Assistant Professor in the Communication department at Chatham University's College of Arts & Sciences. A multimedia producer, journalist, and communication strategist, she teaches courses in journalism, public relations, communication theory, and social/digital media while advising the student-run media outlet Communiqué.

Her teaching emphasizes practical skill development rooted in media ethics and communication principles. She previously worked as an editorial assistant at Journalism & Mass Communication Educator and taught writing for the Web at Point Park University.

As a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter for over a decade, she specialized in arts/lifestyle coverage, digital news editing, and co-hosted a lifestyle web show. She also mentored student journalists at Point Park University's Innocence Institute.
