Santosh Bhatta

Senior Lecturer in Public Health at the School of Health and Social Wellbeing, University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). Santosh Bhatta is also affiliated with the UWE College of Hainan Medical University, Hainan, China, and collaborates with the Nepal Injury Research Centre (NIRC) and Kathmandu Medical College (KMC), Nepal.

• Education: PhD in Public Health, MSc in Environmental Health, PGCertHE, all from UWE Bristol.

His research focuses on injury prevention, environmental risk assessment, and safety promotion in low- and middle-income countries, particularly for unintentional childhood injuries within home environments. He employs mixed-methods approaches, including systematic reviews and meta-analysis, to inform interventions and global health strategies.

At UWE Bristol, he leads modules on Research and Project Management Skills (MSc Public Health) and Introduction to Evidence-Based Population Health (BSc Public Health), while supervising MSc Public Health students and serving as personal tutor for BSc Public Health Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship.

His professional collaborations span institutions and research groups, including the Nepal Injury Research Centre (NIRC) and Kathmandu Medical College (KMC), Nepal, under the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Global Health Research Group funding. He also contributes to teaching and research leadership in China’s UWE College of Hainan Medical University.
