Dr. Sanjiv Dhingra is a Professor at the University of Manitoba's Max Rady College of Medicine, Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology. He serves as Principal Investigator at the St. Boniface Hospital Research Centre's Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and directs the Canada Italy Tissue Engineering Program (CITEL).
- Research Focus: Cardiac regeneration, stem cell therapy, biomaterials, and immune response modulation.
- Education: PhD from Panjab University, India; postdoctoral training at University of Manitoba and McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine.
His research explores:
- Host immune response against stem cell transplants
- Immunomodulatory biomaterials synthesis
- iPSC-based disease modeling for hereditary metabolic disorders
Key contributions include advancing allogeneic stem cell therapy and developing biodegradable cardiac patches. His lab employs stem cell biology and molecular techniques for myocardial repair studies.
Scientific recognition includes awards from the American Heart Association, Canadian Cardiovascular Society, and Life Science Association of Manitoba.
