Dr. Gagandeep Kaur is an Assistant Professor in Chemistry at Howard University's College of Arts & Sciences, with a joint appointment in Chemical Engineering. She directs an active research laboratory focused on biomaterial design for autoimmune disease and cancer therapies. Her expertise spans peptide-based biomaterials, stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles, and targeted drug delivery systems.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Bioorganic Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
- M.Sc and B.Sc from Panjab University, Chandigarh
Research integrates:
- Precision biomaterials engineering
- Immunotherapeutic strategies
- Extracellular vesicle characterization
- Stem cell applications in autoimmunity
She mentors six students including PhD candidate Nzube Amaeze. The Kaur Lab (Room 212, Chemistry Building) explores four primary research streams: 1) Biomaterial-stem cell interactions, 2) Immunomodulatory biomaterials, 3) Extracellular vesicle diagnostics, and 4) Vesicle-based autoimmune therapies.
