Sania Anwar serves as the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Academic Fellow and Lecturer in Law at Columbia Law School, where she is also a J.S.D. candidate. Her academic roles include teaching legal research and writing to LL.M. students. She holds an LL.M. (2021) and J.D. (2007) from Columbia Law School and University of Colorado Law School, respectively, and a B.A. (Hons) from Franklin & Marshall College (2004).

Her research focuses on private law, inequality, legal theory, and citizenship, with a current project reinterpreting tort law theory and practice. She has contributed scholarship on human dignity, published in Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Human Rights and Human Dignity.

Anwar previously practiced complex litigation, founded a nonprofit to provide education for marginalized children in Pakistan, and served as a law clerk to Judge Sandra I. Rothenberg of the Colorado Court of Appeals. She has collaborated with the Broadway Advocacy Coalition, combining art, policy, and community efforts for social justice.
