Dr. Sandy Pool is an Associate Professor in the English Department at the University of Winnipeg, specializing in Creative Writing, Poetry, and Feminist Literature. Her research explores social justice, ecopoetics, avant-garde performance, and hybrid-genre writing. Previously, she held a position as Assistant Professor at the University of East Anglia in the UK, where she led a research group on multi-modal writing and digital humanities. Her work has been honored with nominations for major literary awards, including the Governor General’s Award for Poetry and Ontario’s Trillium Book Award. She has also been awarded fellowships at prestigious institutions like Yaddo and Dora Maar House in France.
Her teaching focuses on Creative Writing, Global Anglophone Literature, and Humanistic Geography. Notable publications include the poetry collections Undark: An Oratorio and Exploding Into Night, as well as anthologies such as Intro Poetry Reader and The Calgary Renaissance. She actively contributes to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of literature, space theory, and digital innovation.
Dr. Pool’s awards and recognitions reflect her impactful contributions to feminist literature and experimental forms. Her current projects include the nonfiction essay collection I Love Lucy, which explores themes of identity and place. She is committed to advancing creative writing pedagogy and fostering collaborative research in digital humanities.
