Sandro Mezzadra is a Full Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Bologna's Department of the Arts. He holds adjunct professorships at Western Sydney University and Lingnan University, Hong Kong. His work focuses on global capitalism, migration, postcolonial critique, and border studies. He has coordinated major EU projects such as PLUS (Platform Labor in Urban Spaces) and contributed to interdisciplinary collaborations worldwide.
Education: PhD in Political Thought (University of Turin, 1993); MA in Political Science and Philosophy (University of Bologna and Genoa, 1985–1989).
Research interests include the intersection of political theory with migration, logistics, and colonialism. His books, such as Border as Method and The Politics of Operations, explore contemporary capitalism's dynamics. Recent work addresses platform capitalism and geopolitical shifts in a multipolar world.
Grants include Horizon Europe (INCA, 2022–2026) and Australian Research Council projects. Awards include the International Chair of Contemporary Philosophy (2024) and Kosmos Fellowship (2015–2016). He advises on migration policies and global governance, emphasizing anti-colonial and abolitionist frameworks.
