Sandro Mezzadra is a Professor of Political Theory at the University of Bologna, Italy, where he teaches postcolonial studies and contemporary political theory. He holds a PhD in History of Political Thought from the University of Turin (1993) and two BA degrees in Political Sciences (University of Bologna, 1989) and Philosophy (University of Genoa, 1985). He is also an Adjunct Researcher at the Institute for Culture and Society, Western Sydney University.
His research focuses on migration, postcolonial theory, contemporary capitalism, and autonomist Marxism. He co-authored Border as Method, or the Multiplication of Labor (2013) and contributed to projects like the FP7 European MIG@NET initiative and the ARC Discovery project on creative labor in the Asian Century. His work has been translated into ten languages.
Mezzadra has held prestigious fellowships at Duke University, the Max Planck Institute, and the Humboldt Universität, among others. His publications explore global inequality, labor dynamics, and the politics of capitalist systems.
Current projects include transnational migration studies and the intersection of creative labor with social mobility. His interdisciplinary approach bridges political economy, postcolonial studies, and critical theory.
