Sandrine Berges is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Bilkent University and incoming British Academy Global Professor at the University of York (2024-2028). She co-founded the Turkish-European Network for Women Philosophers and SWIP-TR, and actively contributes to the Recovery Project for marginalized philosophical voices.
Her research examines:
- Historical moral/political philosophy (Ancient, Medieval, Early Modern, 18th Century)
- Contemporary feminist and social theory
- Capability approach applications
- Intellectual recovery of women philosophers
She received the 2022 Emma Goldman Snowball Award, Newton Mobility Fellowship, and Hypatia grant for scholarly impact.
Current projects include a philosophical study of domesticity through historical texts and the recent publication of Liberty in Their Names: Women Philosophers of the French Revolution (Bloomsbury, 2022).
She teaches diverse philosophical traditions including feminist theory, ethics, early modern philosophy, and aesthetics, intentionally centering underrepresented perspectives.
