Jacqueline Broad is Professor of Philosophy at Monash University's School of Philosophical, Historical, and International Studies, specializing in early modern women philosophers. Elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities (2018), she researches ethical foundations of women's rights and feminist engagements with Stoicism/Cartesianism.
Her work analyzes themes of virtue, liberty, and religious conscience in women's philosophical correspondence from 1600-1800. Current ARC projects examine Stoic influences on women writers and philosophical foundations of women's rights.
As Series Editor for Cambridge's 'Women in the History of Philosophy', she promotes recovery of marginalized texts. Her publications include critical editions of Mary Astell's works and analyses of early modern feminist epistemologies.
