Sandrine Bergès is a Professor of Philosophy at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, and currently on leave as a British Academy Global Professor at the University of York (2024–2028). Her work focuses on the history of moral and political philosophy, with a particular emphasis on ancient (Plato, Aristotle, Stoics), medieval (Heloise, Christine de Pizan), early modern (Margaret Cavendish), and 18th-century thinkers (Wollstonecraft, Sophie de Grouchy, Olympe de Gouges). She also engages with contemporary feminist philosophy and the capability approach. Bergès earned her Ph.D. from the University of Leeds in 2000 and has held teaching positions at institutions including King’s College London and St Andrews.
