Sandra L. Dwyer serves as faculty in the Department of Philosophy within Georgia State University's College of Arts & Sciences. She holds affiliate appointments at the Jean Beer Blumenfeld Center for Ethics and the Institute for Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her administrative role includes coordinating graduate student teachers for the philosophy department.
Her research focuses on three core areas: the Philosophy of Hannah Arendt, Critical Thinking methodologies, and Business Ethics frameworks. She emphasizes practical applications of ethical reasoning in professional contexts while maintaining deep scholarly engagement with Arendt's political philosophy.
Dwyer has authored significant publications including Thinking Ethically in Business (Humanities Insights ebook, 2009) and co-authored Critical Thinking: The Art of Argument (Wadsworth/Cengage, 2012; 2nd edition 2014) with George Rainbolt. Her current scholarly priority involves returning to her work on Hannah Arendt's philosophical contributions.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. from Emory University (1995) and a B.A. from James Madison University (1982). She maintains an active role in graduate pedagogy through her coordination of teaching assistants.
