Sana Chiu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management & Leadership at the C. T. Bauer College of Business, University of Houston, where she joined in 2017. She holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia and has extensive experience teaching and researching in top business schools across Asia and North America.

Her research centers on strategic leadership, corporate sustainability (particularly ESG), stakeholder management, and corporate restructuring, including divestitures and M&As. She investigates how CEO motivations, cognitive diversity, and moral foundations influence strategic decisions and organizational outcomes. Her work integrates psychology, ethics, and management theory to understand leadership in complex environments.
Her recent publications span journals like Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Management, Journal of Business Ethics, and Leadership Quarterly, reflecting a strong focus on sustainability, ethical leadership, and strategic change. These works collectively emphasize the role of top executives in driving responsible and sustainable business practices, especially under crisis or transition conditions.

Dr. Chiu actively contributes to the academic community as Associate Editor of Business & Society and serves on editorial boards of Journal of Management, Organization Science, and Frontiers in Psychology. She is the Representative-at-Large for the Social Issues Management Division in the Academy of Management. She advises doctoral students and teaches strategic management at undergraduate, MBA, DBA, and executive levels, emphasizing case-based learning and real-world applications.
She is also engaged in promoting sustainable tourism and supports the arts through sponsorship of Performing Arts Houston and Drum Corps International.
