Samuel Canter

Dr. Samuel Canter is an Adjunct Professor at George Mason University, bringing extensive professional experience from national security, military operations, and emergency management sectors. He currently serves as a Strategic Planner and Integrator for the Department of the Army and as an Intelligence Officer in the Army Reserve, combining operational service with academic engagement.

His educational background includes a PhD in Politics and International Relations from the University of Leicester, an MA in Military History from Norwich University, and a BA/MA in History from Queens College.

Dr. Canter's research focuses on national security organizations, bureaucratic structures, and institutional culture within defense and intelligence communities. His interdisciplinary work bridges political science, military history, and public administration, with a strong emphasis on strategic policy development and governance in security institutions.

Since 2022, he has contributed to academic discourse as a part-time host for the New Books in National Security podcast, promoting scholarly engagement with contemporary security issues.
