LTC Mark Balboni is an Instructor at the Department of Distance Education, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. Transitioning from an infantry officer to a U.S. Army Strategist (Functional Area 59), he completed the Basic Strategic Arts Program (BSAP) at the Institute of World Politics (IWP) and earned a Master’s in Statecraft and National Security Affairs. His career spans roles at the 1st Cavalry Division, U.S. Army War College, and Combined Forces Command in Korea.
Education: M.A. in Statecraft and National Security Affairs (IWP, 2013); prior military training includes infantry and strategic planner assignments.
Research focuses on strategy development, interagency coordination, and ethical decision-making in military operations. His work emphasizes bridging tactical execution with strategic vision, informed by historical military analysis (e.g., ancient warfare studies with Dr. John Bonin). His article on Digital Interoperability addresses challenges in multinational joint operations.
Teaching: Instructs the Advanced Operations Course for division-level officers, addressing knowledge gaps among diverse学员 ranks and reserve/mobilization backgrounds. Integrates IWP-taught ethics into operational decision-making frameworks.
