Sameera Khatoon is an Assistant Professor at the Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan. She holds a PhD in Accounting from York University's Schulich School of Business, alongside an M.ScM from Toronto Metropolitan University, an MBA from IBA Karachi, and a B.Comm from the University of Karachi.
Her research focuses on how accounting information and regulations influence investor judgment, with emphasis on financial/non-financial disclosures and non-GAAP measures. Methodologically, she employs experiments and interviews to study cognitive impacts of accounting data.
Teaching: Currently instructs COMM 210.3 (Introduction to Management Accounting). Professional roles include membership on the Accounting Standards Board (AcSB) Academic Advisory Council. Prior work experience includes HSBC's Investment Banking division.
Recent research trends center on ethical dilemmas in accounting education and professional practice, particularly fraud detection mechanisms and compliance obligations under updated ethics codes.
