Samantha Rosenthal is a Professor at Johnson & Wales University (JWU) since 2016, affiliated with the College of Health & Wellness. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology from Brown University, an MPH from Brown School of Public Health, and a B.S. in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Her research focuses on technology’s impact on mental health, health disparities, and using epidemiology to shape health policy. She directs the Center for Student Research & Interdisciplinary Collaboration and serves on the RI-INBRE Executive Committee.
Her work includes federal grants like a 2021 NIMH grant studying smartphone use and depression. She has received awards such as the Global Health Scholarship and Foreign Studies Fellowship. Rosenthal teaches courses like Epidemiology (HSC2100) and Introduction to Health Professions (HSC1010), emphasizing cultural competence and systemic racism in healthcare.
