Dr. Samantha Lane serves as an Academic Leader for Marketing and Student Recruitment in the School of Sciences at Bath Spa University, where she has contributed since 2006. Her academic responsibilities include teaching Biological Sciences and leading core modules such as Biological Techniques, Work Placement, and specialized courses in Microbiology and Medical Biology.
Her educational background includes:
- PhD in Occupational Lung Disease from Welsh School of Pharmacy, Cardiff
- PGCE in Secondary Science from University of Wales Institute, Cardiff
- BSc (Hons) in Microbiology from University of Wales, Cardiff
Lane's research focuses on critical public health challenges including antibiotic resistance mechanisms, occupational respiratory diseases linked to industrial contaminants, and emerging infectious disease patterns. She maintains active collaborations through professional memberships in the Microbiology Society and Royal Society of Biology, and holds Fellowship status in the Higher Education Academy.
Her scholarly publications demonstrate consistent focus on occupational health risks in industrial settings, particularly biological contaminants in textile manufacturing. Early work centered on parasite epidemiology (Giardia), while later research evolved toward multidisciplinary investigations of cotton-related respiratory hazards, culminating in recent explorations of social factors influencing health behaviors.
Lane actively supervises student dissertations across microbiology applications, physiological studies, and science communication. She contributes to institutional service through curriculum development and student recruitment initiatives.
