Dr. Samantha A. Morgan-Curtis serves as Associate Professor of English and Women’s Studies in the Department of Languages, Literature, and Philosophy at Tennessee State University’s College of Arts & Sciences. She currently directs the WRITE Program, TSU’s first Quality Enhancement Plan focused on writing-in-the-disciplines, and previously coordinated First-Year Writing and Women’s Studies programs after chairing the committee that established the latter.
Her research spans Early Modern British Literature, 18th-century British Literature, Women’s and Gender Studies, Composition and Rhetoric, Popular Culture, and Pedagogy. A pioneer in online education since 2001, she co-edited TSU’s Centennial Journal and integrates historical literary analysis with contemporary gender theory in her teaching.
Her distinguished awards include:
- Hodges Award for Best New Teaching Associate (University of Tennessee, Knoxville)
- Teacher of the Year Award (Tennessee State University, 2007)
Dr. Morgan-Curtis remains an active advisor across departments and served on TSU’s QEP Development Committee (2008-2010). Her WRITE Program leadership provides faculty development resources for discipline-specific writing instruction university-wide. She also contributes to the TSU Wesley Foundation Board and community scholarship initiatives through West End United Methodist Church.
