Sam Parker

Dr Sam Parker is a Senior Lecturer in Social Psychology at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), joining in November 2023. Previously, he served as a Lecturer in Psychology and Course Leader at Birmingham City University and worked in the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University, where he completed his PhD in 2018.

Sam specializes in discursive psychology, focusing on forced migration, sexuality, and identity construction. His work examines how refugees and asylum seekers narrate integration experiences in Wales. He is currently co-authoring a research methods textbook slated for 2026 publication.

At UWE, he teaches Social Psychology and Qualitative Research Methods, co-leads modules on Introduction to Psychology and Human Sexuality, and offers PhD supervision in aligned research areas. Sam is affiliated with UWE's Social Sciences Research Group and Psychological Sciences Research Group.
