معرفی
Dr. Sam Bonnett is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Science at the University of the West of England (UWE), based in the School of Applied Sciences within the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences (HAS). His expertise spans soil ecology, biogeochemistry, and microbial processes in natural and human-impacted ecosystems. He focuses on developing low-cost methods for monitoring soil health, carbon sequestration, and restoration projects to combat climate change and biodiversity loss.
- Education:
- BSc (Hons)
- MSc
- PhD
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Research interests include soil ecoacoustics (using sound to assess soil health), rewilding of agricultural lands, greenhouse gas dynamics, and microbial functions in urban, agricultural, forest, and wetland ecosystems. Collaborations involve organizations like Wild Carbon, UKAN, and the British Ecological Society.
His work integrates innovative approaches, such as acoustic monitoring networks for soil, water, and air, funded by the UK Acoustic Network+ and the British Ecological Society. These projects aim to provide holistic environmental assessments and foster public engagement through soundscapes.
- Labs/Teams:
- Developing ecoacoustic monitoring infrastructure on UWE’s campus
- Part of interdisciplinary teams focusing on restoration ecology and climate mitigation
