Dr. Sam McCann is a Research Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Associate at King's College London, affiliated with the Department of Women & Children's Health within the School of Life Course & Population Sciences. She is part of the Sophie Moore Research Group and the Global Nutrition Research Group, focusing on early child development and the impact of undernutrition on neurodevelopmental outcomes. Her work includes leading the implementation of neurodevelopmental measures for the INDiGO trial and previously managing the BRIGHT study in The Gambia.
Education includes a PhD in Global Health (King's College London, 2019-2021), an MSc in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and a BSc in Medical Neuroscience.
Her research emphasizes global nutrition's role in child health, particularly in under-resourced settings. She leads key studies addressing long-term developmental impacts of early-life undernutrition. Currently, she coordinates neurodevelopmental assessments in the INDiGO trial, building on her prior experience in The Gambia.
