Dr Sam Hornsey is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Southampton, affiliated with both the School of Psychology (Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences) and the School of Human Development and Health (Faculty of Medicine). Her work focuses on child and family health, sleep problems, behavioral health interventions, and primary care research.
- Education: BSc, MSc, PhD in Primary Care Research from the University of Southampton (2022)
Research trends include digital behavioral interventions, ADHD-related sleep disturbances, parental experiences of infant crying, and community-based primary care strategies. Sam leads or co-leads NIHR-funded projects such as food allergy prevention in infants, digital sleep support for children with ADHD (DISCA), and qualitative studies on parental help-seeking behaviors.
She is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a Trainee Health Psychologist pursuing Stage 2 training via the independent route. Her affiliations include the Primary Care Behavioural Science Group, and she collaborates with researchers like Professor Ingrid Muller and Professor Miriam Santer.
