Salmam Rana is an Assistant Professor in the School of Creative Industries and School of Professional Music at Toronto Metropolitan University. He holds a BA (Hons) from York University, LLB from Osgoode Hall, LLM from McGill, and M.St from the University of Oxford. His research integrates law, culture, and Hip Hop, focusing on legal pluralism, music copyright, human rights, and youth culture. Rana actively practices law specializing in music industry contracts and licensing, while maintaining a background as a Hip Hop artist with The Circle collective.

Research Interests: Explores intersections between law and cultural production through Hip Hop's socio-legal dimensions. Uses interdisciplinary methods combining legal theory with ethnographic studies of music communities.
