Jeffery G. Hewitt serves as Associate Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, joining the faculty in 2019. Of mixed-descent Cree heritage, he was called to the Ontario Bar in 1998 and maintains active scholarly and professional engagement.

Professor Hewitt's research integrates Indigenous legal orders, constitutional law, human rights, and visual legal studies with business law and legal education. His interdisciplinary methodology emphasizes practical applications in Indigenous governance and spirituality, notably through art-law intersections. As co-director of Osgoode's Intensive Program in Indigenous Lands, Resources, and Governments, he shapes curriculum focused on Indigenous sovereignty. His forthcoming 2024 edited volume on religious freedom and Indigenous spirituality (University of Toronto Press) with Richard Moon and Beverley Jacobs represents current scholarly output.
