Sally E. Dickinson, PhD is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Arizona, with affiliations to the Cancer Center and the Chemistry and Biochemistry Graduate Interdisciplinary Program (CBIO GIDP). She received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Puget Sound and her PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Arizona under Dr. Qin Chen.
Her research focuses on UV-induced non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) prevention by examining signaling pathways like MAP Kinases, PI3-Kinase, mTOR/Akt, and TLR4. She employs natural products and small molecule inhibitors to target these pathways in topical chemoprevention strategies. Collaborative work with Drs. Georg Wondrak and Clara Curiel-Lewandrowski highlights TLR4's role in UV-induced stress signaling and keratinocyte carcinogenesis.
- TLR4 as a chemoprevention target
- UV-induced signaling in skin cancer
- Natural product-based therapies
- Topical inhibitor development
Her scientific awards include an R25T fellowship and a K07 Career Development Award. Dickinson collaborates on grants related to skin cancer prevention and mentors students in the Cancer Prevention and Control Program.
