Saleema Snow is a Professor of Law and Director of the Legal Writing Program at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law. Her expertise spans religious profiling, poverty law, and the intersection of gender, poverty, and justice. She has been recognized for her teaching with the 2018 Student Bar Association’s Outstanding Law Professor Award.
Her research addresses systemic inequities, including civil asset forfeiture, education disparities, and Muslim women’s rights. Snow actively contributes to legal communities through leadership roles in organizations like the D.C. Bar Board of Governors and Karamah. Notably, she led an amicus brief against the Trump administration’s travel ban, arguing it disproportionately impacted women and violated gender protections.
Prior to academia, she practiced law for 16 years, focusing on low-income advocacy, special education rights, and policy reform to combat discriminatory school disciplinary practices. Her presentations and publications emphasize intersectionality, inclusion, and social justice.
Snow’s work bridges legal scholarship and activism, addressing topics like Islamophobia, racial equity, and community-based solutions to systemic issues. Her contributions span national and local legal forums, emphasizing servant leadership and transformative legal practices.
