Vanita Saleema Snow is a Professor of Law and Director of the Youth Justice Clinic at the University of the District of Columbia's David A. Clarke School of Law. Her research focuses on youth justice, gender equity, and the intersection of poverty, gender, and access to justice, analyzed through a critical race theory framework. She has been honored with the Student Bar Association’s Outstanding Law Professor Award for her teaching excellence.
Professor Snow’s scholarship addresses systemic discrimination and its legal implications, including her notable article in the Georgetown Journal of Law and Modern Critical Race Perspectives, which critiques stigmatization of Muslims as terrorists. She actively engages with academic and legal communities through speaking engagements at institutions like Yale Law School and Harvard’s Critical Race Theory Conference.
Her work emphasizes framing theory in legal contexts, particularly how stereotypes influence public policy and judicial decisions. The Youth Justice Clinic under her direction provides students hands-on experience in advocating for marginalized youth populations.
