Saima Hayes is a Lecturer at the School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Newcastle, and a Paediatric Physiotherapist at Taree Community Health Centre within the Hunter New England Local Health District. Her clinical focus includes Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), Congenital Talipes Equinovarus (CTEV), and enhancing rural healthcare access for children and young people.
- Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) in Aerospace Engineering, UNSW (1994)
- Masters in Physiotherapy, University of Sydney (1999) with Distinction
Her research interests center around paediatric physiotherapy in rural settings, particularly addressing DDH and CTEV. She has extensive clinical experience across paediatric intensive care, neonatal care, and community health, with a strong commitment to improving healthcare equity for rural populations. Her work bridges clinical practice and medical education, as she actively teaches University of Newcastle Medical Students.
