Julia Hush is a Professor of Physiotherapy in Macquarie University’s Department of Health Sciences and holds an Honorary Professorship since November 2020. She contributed to establishing the Department in 2012 and specializes in clinical pain neuroscience, paediatric pain, and personalized pain treatments. Her research bridges clinical practice and basic science, notably in microtubule cytoskeleton dynamics. Hush has secured over $1.7M in research funding (ARC, NHMRC, IASP) and published over 95 peer-reviewed articles, achieving an H-index of 35. She was a Section Editor for Journal of Physiotherapy (2009–2018) and reviews for high-impact journals like New England Journal of Medicine. She has supervised 10 PhD students and collaborates with institutions like Stanford University’s SNAPL Lab and Westmead Children’s Hospital. Her teaching focuses on pain science, evidence-based healthcare, and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, integrating IASP Pain Curriculum into Macquarie’s Doctor of Physiotherapy program.
