Prof. Dr. Sabine Zinn-Thomas is an Associate Professor at the University of Freiburg's Institute for Cultural Anthropology and European Ethnology. She also serves as Head of the State Office for Folklore Stuttgart and State Museum Württemberg. Her research focuses on mobility (social, spatial, virtual), regional ethnography, identity/ethnicity, body-related studies (health, illness, sexuality, death), and material culture.
- Education: Doctorate from University of Frankfurt am Main (1997) with a dissertation on menstruation and menstrual hygiene
- Research Themes: Integration processes, intergenerational health practices, cultural representations of Celticity, transnational elite migration
- Awards: Doctoral scholarship from German Hygiene Museum Dresden (1997)
- Leadership: Deputy Chair of European Ethnology (2010-2015)
- Editorial Work: Co-edited volumes on mobilities and cultural studies
- Current Role: Head of State Office for Folklore Stuttgart/State Museum Württemberg since 2017
