Sabine Schneider is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Oxford GloCoBank project. She specializes in modern European and British economic governance, particularly the political economy of financial crises, central banking, and Anglo-German financial networks. Her work bridges historical research with policy relevance, addressing contemporary challenges through historical analysis.
Educations:
- PhD in Economic Governance (ESRC-funded), University of Cambridge
- MPhil in Economic History, University of Cambridge
Research Interests: She focuses on economic diplomacy, monetary policy, and the intersection of trade and financial systems. Her book War, Finance and Diplomacy examines Germany’s role in the global gold standard and its rivalry with Britain, reinterpreting institutional legacies and financial competition. Recent policy engagements include speaking at the US Federal Reserve on historical inflation management and hosting a roundtable on central banking post-2008 crises.
Projects: Coordinates the Oxford GloCoBank project (2025–present) and has contributed to the LSE conference on financial crisis memories. Previously led the ECR Development Seminar at the Oxford Centre for Economic and Social History.
