Charles Read

Dr. Charles Read is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with the Faculty of History and an Affiliated Lecturer in the Faculty of Economics. His research explores the political economy of financial crises and famines in Britain, Ireland, and the British Empire over two centuries.

Key research areas include economic policy during the Irish Famine, fixed exchange rate failures, and financial stability mechanisms. Recent publications analyze historical banking debates and inflation control strategies.
