Sabine Parrish is a Research Fellow in the School of Social Science at the University of Aberdeen, specializing in the anthropology of food with regional expertise in Brazil. Her research examines coffee consumption cultures, environmental impacts on coffee production, dietary inequalities, and food-related practices across different cultural contexts.
Her current project explores sensory language disparities in coffee evaluation for global markets through collaboration with Brazil's State University of Campinas. Research interests include:
- Tropical agriculture and climate change impacts
- Service labor in food industries
- Colonial influences on food systems
- Moral economies of consumption
Her publications focus on coffee culture dynamics, child nutrition, maternal health practices, and food rituals during crises. She holds a DPhil and MPhil from the University of Oxford.
