Dr. Sabine Jacques is a Senior Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law at the University of Liverpool's School of Law and Social Justice, part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on balancing freedom of expression with IP rights, cultural diversity in creative industries, and AI's impact on copyright. She co-leads the £6.75m MusicFutures initiative, enhancing the UK music ecosystem's global competitiveness. Recognized internationally, her work influences EU legal opinions and UK courts.
Her research spans interdisciplinary projects like the 2017 CREATe-funded study on YouTube’s Content ID system and the 2019 CERRE-funded analysis of audiovisual advertising. She advises Columbia Global Freedom of Expression and contributes to the EU Law Live project. Teaching includes modules on contemporary IP issues and trade marks/patents. She co-developed 'IntangAbility,' an IP revision game, and serves as Honorary Associate Professor at the University of East Anglia.
