Dr. Sabine Baker is a Research Fellow at the Woolworths Centre for Childhood Nutrition Research within the School of Exercise & Nutrition Sciences at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She holds a PhD from the University of Queensland and is a registered psychologist. Her work focuses on addressing food insecurity in disadvantaged families through the Feeding Families in Tough Times (FFiTT) project, which employs co-design methods and mixed research approaches. Prior to QUT, her research centered on Behavioral Family Intervention for children's emotional and behavioral health. She has received awards including the QUT Faculty of Health Early Career Researcher Award (2022) and the 2018 Early Career Research Award.
Her research interests span food insecurity, parenting practices, child development, and participatory action research. Key projects include analyzing the relationship between hunger and child development using the Australian Early Development Census and evaluating online parenting interventions like Triple P Online. Dr. Baker collaborates closely with families experiencing food insecurity to ensure community-informed solutions.
Publications highlight her work in journals such as Journal of Child Health Care and Behaviour Research and Therapy, with a focus on parenting interventions, food security measurement, and child health behaviors. Her contributions bridge clinical psychology, public health, and community engagement to address systemic challenges in child welfare.
