Saad Chahine is an Associate Professor of Measurement and Assessment at Queen’s University’s Faculty of Education and a member of the Queen’s Assessment and Evaluation Group. Previously, he held dual roles as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine and Faculty of Education at Western University and as a research scientist at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry’s Centre for Education Research and Innovation.
He holds a PhD in Developmental Psychology and Education from the University of Toronto, an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of Toronto, and a B.Ed. in Mathematics & Physical Education from McGill University. His research focuses on improving educational policy and practice through quantitative analysis of large datasets, with particular emphasis on validity theory applications in K-12 and health professions education.
Key research areas include psychometrics, survey design, educational change, and international development initiatives in Myanmar, Belize, Trinidad and Tobago, and Pakistan. His work bridges educational measurement theory with practical applications in healthcare training and global educational reform.
Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches to educational assessment, such as analyzing licensing examination risks and leveraging big data to explore education-health outcome linkages. He has taught graduate courses on research design and educational effectiveness, and previously served as a high school math teacher.
