Dr. Amanda Cooper is an Associate Professor in Educational Policy and Leadership at Queen's University's Faculty of Education. She serves as the Associate Dean (Research), leading research initiatives and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Her affiliations include founding the RIPPLE network (Research Informing Policy, Practice and Leadership in Education) and membership in the Knowledge Translation and Exchange Community of Practice (KTE COP). Cooper holds a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (2012), M.Ed. (2008), B.Ed. from Christchurch College of Education (2004), and B.A.H. from Queen's University (2003).
Her research focuses on knowledge mobilization, bridging research, policy, and practice in education. Key areas include research brokering organizations, impact measurement, evidence-informed policy, and the role of intermediaries in enhancing research utilization. Cooper leads major grants like the SSHRC Insight Grant on Ontario education system knowledge mobilization and the SSHRC PDG Grant on partnered knowledge mobilization with media organizations.
Her work emphasizes arts-based approaches to knowledge translation, co-production, and addressing systemic inequities in education. She provides consultations on KMb strategies to researchers, policymakers, and institutions globally. Cooper's research has explored pandemic-era educational challenges, remote teaching adaptation, and leadership during crises.
Cooper's academic leadership extends to RIPPLE's mission of creating multi-stakeholder networks to amplify research impact. She advocates for innovative assessment strategies and equitable education policies, leveraging both empirical and creative methodologies to drive systemic change.
