Janelle Applewhite

Janelle Applewhite is a Graduate Lecturer and doctoral student in the Applied Developmental Psychology program at George Mason University, advised by Dr. Allison Jack. She holds a BA from The University of the West Indies (Trinidad and Tobago) and an M.Ed. in Special Education with an Autism concentration from James Madison University. Her research focuses on autism comorbidities, camouflaging behaviors in autistic individuals, and culturally-sensitive interventions for neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly in underrepresented communities.

As a 2020 Fulbright Scholar, she has developed interventions targeting neurodevelopmental disorder support in Trinidad and Tobago. Her work emphasizes global accessibility and culturally-relevant practices in ASD support systems.
