Dr. Allison Jack is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at George Mason University, specializing in neurodevelopmental disorders with a focus on autism spectrum disorders. Her research employs fMRI, behavioral analysis, and genetic approaches to investigate social perception differences, particularly in understudied populations such as autistic girls and women.
Her education includes postdoctoral training at Yale University's Child Study Center, a PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Virginia, and dual BAs in Psychology and English from the College of William & Mary.
Research interests center on autism etiology, cerebellar contributions to social learning, neural responses to social stimuli, sex differences in ASD manifestation, and developing predictive models for treatment outcomes. Current projects examine cerebellar function in autistic adolescents and elevated autistic traits in women/nonbinary individuals.
Publications consistently focus on neuroimaging approaches to autism, with recurring themes in cerebellar function, oxytocin pathways, and demographic representation in ASD research.
Awards include:
- Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award
- James Hudson Brown-Alexander B. Coxe Postdoctoral Fellowship
She anticipates accepting graduate students with emphasis on neurodiverse applicants. Teaches PSYC 313 (Child Development) and PSYC 100 (Basic Concepts in Psychology).
