Santiago López Martínez-Morás is a full Professor in the Department of Galician Philology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), affiliated with the Faculty of Philology. He holds a Ph.D. from USC (1996) and specializes in medieval literature, epic traditions, and cultural history with a focus on French and Iberian textual traditions. His research examines topics such as Charlemagne's literary legacy, the Pseudo-Turpin Chronicle, and the intersection of epic poetry with medieval pilgrimage routes like the Camino de Santiago.
Key research areas: Medieval French and Spanish epic literature, historical narratives of Charlemagne and Alexander the Great, textual adaptation in medieval chronicles, and the cultural significance of pilgrimage routes. He has published extensively on epic heroes, allegorical political texts, and the reception of classical material in medieval works.
